This is a little wire frame sculpture that i was playing around with. I hope to continue making various different sculptures using this technique. Enjoy.
Not long ago I found a great park near my work that is surrounded by woods and a creek with walking paths all throughout. This week I've decided to go out into the woods and see what kind of things would be possible to build. After starting a project yesterday I've recruited two co-workers Adam and Jeff to come and help expand upon it and see how large we can make this monstrosity. Here are some pictures of our progress.
This weekend Ben and myself took a split decision turn off the road as we spotted a perfect little grove of trees while driving through fairmount park. The idea was to create something designed only using nature's resources and the outcome was a web of sticks we collected from a dead tree near by and wove together to form an extension of a living tree along side of a nice little path. Hopefully this can bring some unexpected surprise to any passers by.
Pat and I have started playing around with building different percussion oriented instruments from random things that we have been finding around our building / neighborhood trash picks. Here is a glimpse to how some of these ideas are shaping up. Recently added to the list of things to try to build for myself is a homemade xylophone - stay tuned to see how that turns out.
I'm going to post continuing development on the evolution of our studio's floor as we have been noticing a transformation starting to happen from week to week and an unintentional art piece taking shape. This post shows the current status. I'm very excited to see where it goes from here!
